Clear boundaries protect the quality of the work and the decisions made from it.
Research boundary
Where Aperture research starts and ends.
Defined endpoint
Unless monitoring is separately agreed, research ends at the stated evidence cut-off and delivery of the agreed output. Later events are outside that evidentiary record.
Separate scope where needed
Additional research, specialist determination, external communications, monitoring or new evidence is separately scoped where material.
External letters, third-party contact and external enquiries are not included by default.
Aperture does not, unless a written proposal expressly says otherwise, send letters on a client’s behalf, contact subjects or third parties, request comment or right of reply, conduct interviews or make other external enquiries.
The client should ordinarily make those contacts, or use its appointed lawyer or other appropriate professional, and provide the resulting material to Aperture. If Aperture agrees to undertake a specific external communication, it must be separately scoped and approved.
No inference from silence
A third party’s failure to respond, or the absence of a response that was outside the agreed scope, does not establish that the underlying claim is true or false.
Aperture does not substitute research for regulated professional determination.

Aperture Research Works operates as a remote investigative research and evidence-assurance practice. We do not conduct site visits, physical inspections, field investigations, surveillance, sampling, specimen collection, laboratory testing or other on-site evidential work. Where physical inspection, testing or regulated specialist work is required, it is identified as a specialist dependency. Aperture may assess an appropriately obtained third-party report but does not represent that physical work as its own.
