Account verification

We verify who we are doing business with.

A verification email proves control of an inbox. It does not, by itself, prove that the person is who they claim to be. Aperture therefore uses a risk-based verification process before activating accounts, credits or partner rights.

The verification sequence

1

Application and email control

We collect the applicant's stated identity, professional details and intended use, then confirm control of the supplied mailbox.

2

Independent professional research

We independently check relevant public professional and business information rather than treating the form itself as proof.

3

Organisation, role and authority

Where relevant, we establish whether the organisation and role are real and whether the person is authorised to act for the organisation.

4

Enhanced verification when needed

Higher-risk, high-value, unusual or high-profile identity claims may require a stronger independently sourced channel or specialist identity proofing.

Example: controlling an email address that contains a famous person's name does not establish that famous person's identity. If we cannot independently establish the claimed identity to an appropriate standard, no account is issued.

Verification and commercial classification are separate.

A person can be genuine but still not qualify for the programme they selected. After identity verification, Aperture determines the appropriate commercial role and any approved secondary roles.
